New challenges and trends in EU Development cooperation

Organized by the Centre for EU Studies of Ghent University.

Former Development Commissioner Poul Nielson will give a critical analysis of recent trends and future challenges for EU development policy. Both the EU and the world have radically changed since Mr Nielson’s tenure in the European Commission (1999-2004). Over the past decade we have witnessed the emergence of the BRICS, the creation of the External Action Service, the return of geopolitics, the eurocrisis and the decline of aid. Mr Nielson will reflect on these changes and focus on what is special about the EU’s collective engagement in international development. There will be ample opportunity for questions and answers from the audience. Chatham rules apply.

When? Tuesday November 25 from 18:00 to 19:30

Where? Auditorium C, Campus Rechten, Universiteitstraat 6.
