The annual Research Day of the Ghent Centre for Global Studies aims to bring together all (junior and senior) researchers of its affiliated research groups, for an interdisciplinary dialogue on common research themes, different approaches and theoretical perspectives. The organizing committee of pre- and postdocs of the GCGS will offer 4 interdisciplinary workshops (2 parallel morning and afternoon sessions) on the following topics:
- ‘Cheap nature’: rethinking nature and society in Global Studies
- Gendering globalisation: empirically, methodologically and epistemologically
- The global reconfiguration of labour: redefining work in contemporary capitalism
- Engaging with the world: Global Studies, action research and social impact
With a keynote lecture by Geert De Neve, Professor of Social Anthropology and South Asian Studies at the University of Sussex (UK): “After Rana Plaza: Rethinking the Health and Safety of Global Garment Workers”
