The Ghent Centre for Global Studies is proud to announce that Ghent University has joined the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master in Global Studies: A European Perspective (EMGS), co-ordinated by the University of Leipzig. This international research-based Master is combining perspectives, methods and theories developed in history, the social sciences, cultural as well as area studies and economics to investigate phenomena of global connectedness.
Students choosing the programme study at two different European universities, at each for one academic year. In addition, the programme offers an optional third semester mobility to Erasmus Mundus Partners worldwide. Ghent University has been accepted as an associated partner offering an exchange programme of 30 ECTS for the third semester mobility scheme.
Building on the expertise of the Ghent Centre for Global Studies and in keeping with the historicising and comparative approach of EMGS, as well as the critical, postcolonial inspiration of this programme, the course offer at Ghent University consists of 3 specialised modules:
1) World history and political economy of global capitalism
2) Conflict and development in a globalising world
3) Europe as a global actor: political and ethical perspectives on global governance
